Our Story

How a personal observation turned into a student-led math community in Victoria.

While preparing for math contests and exploring topics beyond the school curriculum, I noticed a recurring pattern: many passionate math students in Victoria were studying largely on their own. We often met through competitions, but there were few opportunities to keep learning and working together outside of them.

Whether preparing for competitions or exploring advanced problem-solving, students often relied on self-study or private tutoring, with little space to discuss creative solutions or tackle difficult problems with peers.

Recognizing this gap, I founded Victoria Math Circle in September 2026. I wanted to create a dedicated platform where middle and high school students across Greater Victoria could step out of isolated study and work together—dissecting elegant math ideas, sharing competition insights, and learning from each other's perspectives.

What started as a personal initiative is growing into a connected regional network. Today, Victoria Math Circle provides weekly sessions, contest prep resources, and a Discord community—proving that math is most exciting when we explore it together.

The Spark

A simple observation: the most curious math students in Victoria were often studying alone, with no shared space to explore ideas together.

The Foundation

Victoria Math Circle was founded to turn isolated problem solving into collaborative discovery—built by students, for students.

The Vision

A connected regional network where young mathematicians meet weekly, share contest insights, and grow as a community.
